Tickle Cocktail - Alternative, Natural Health Remedies For Everyday Sniffles
Don't you just love it when a co-worker exposes you to whatever brand of flu is going around? Although you can applaud his faithfulness to his tasks, it creates a problem for the health of those that he comes in contact with. Most of you will not be so bold as to confront him, asking him to stay away from you. So what can you do to protect yourself from the germs you have been exposed to?
When you know that you or one of your family has been exposed to flu germs you should take the tickle cocktail. Take 1200 to 1800 mg of Echinacea or an Echinacea/Golden Seal combination immediately and repeat twice during the same day. Then you can continue a regimen of 1200 to 1800 mg per day, taking one tablet with each meal for several more days if you feel it is necessary. In addition you should take about 250 to 300 mg of Vitamin C each time that you take your Echinacea.
Echinacea is a herb that boosts your body's natural immune system. Your body will naturally defend itself from invaders. However, if you take Echinacea daily, without taking a break, your immune system will become dependent on the Echinacea. As your immune system relies more and more on the support of the Echinacea, it will become weaker from lack of activity. Most experts recommend that you not take Echinacea for more than two weeks consistently.
You can use this same formula when you are not aware that you were exposed and that little tickle begins to develop in your throat. This is why it is called the tickle cocktail. If the illness persists it is time to pull out the big guns. Once you have become ill with an ordinary flu start taking garlic and increase your intake of Vitamin C. As there is some indication that you may overdose on Vitamin C it is not recommended to continue high dosages of Vitamin C for more than 4 or 5 days. Some people may overdose on Vitamin C when taking more than 1000 mg daily. This garlic and Vitamin C regimen will usually nip the flu in the bud in a couple of days.
Considering the alternatives listed here and the cautions cited it is important to once again emphasize that "science is an imperfect science". In other words understand that everyone is different and, although there are general properties in many herbs, vitamins or chemical remedies, your body could react in divergent manners from other people. The more information that you have about alternative health remedies the better you can take control of your health.
